Why is DA so... difficult with written work? Literature is an art form too, it should be just as easy to upload and share as photographs, sketches and whatnot. So why isn't it?
So,the file formats required for submitted written work. Essentially, DA won't take .doc files, which are those created in Microsoft Word. Don't know about you, but for every significant body of text I type (be it a large email, story, assignment or whatever) is done in Word. So what options does that leave?
HTML: who the fook writes a story in HTML?
'Text': Essentially, you type the work into DA and format it using their (limited) system of italic, bold and paragraphing. No matter how much I messed around with this, the submission didn't look half as good as it did sat all shiny and pristine in Word, so I removed it.
.PDF: I don't own a subscription to Adobe's Acrobat Reader thingy (only use it for university purposes really) and so can't convert my work into .pdf's. Not everyone's made of money, to be fair.
Now I know why I've had this DA account for four years and never submitted anything; it's great for submitting paintings, photos and such, naff for stories and poetry.
Bah!
EDIT: Okay, so I submit a piece in .html, only for it to come out looking a bit weird (formatting code and the like all over the place). Took me the best part of thirty mins to go through and reformat the whole thing.
Hope you enjoy "A Lolboi I Was Meant To Be".
